Der Titel klingt lapidar, doch dahinter steckt eine beeindruckende Übersicht über das Lebenswerk des international renommierten Zeichners und Karikaturisten (1939-1993) - wie Leser von "Zeit", "Spiegel", "Observer", "New York Times" etc. wissen. Die Industriegesellschaft mit ihren negativen Entwicklungen, Architektur, das elektronische Zeitalter, die bedrohte Landschaft und der Mensch als Schöpfer und Opfer waren wiederkehrende Themen des Filigrantechnikers. Federzeichnungen zu diesen Sujets haben in diesem Band den Hauptanteil, doch tragen auch (weniger bekannte) mit Farbstift und in Mischtechnik gefertigte Zeichnungen sowie Buchillustrationen zum repräsentativen Werksüberblick bei. Direkter Witz war nicht Rauchs Sache, eher hintergründiger bis schwarzer Humor und vor allem die - bei aller Satire - mehr ernsthafte und kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der Entmenschlichung unserer Gesellschaft.
