The everyday practice of street traders in the historic Mitte district of Berlin is determined by their ability to both conform to and challenge the commonplace, structural and institutional barriers that exist. Noa K. Ha provides perspectives on this daily use of public space that also make apparent the globalization of major Western cities. Her study makes reference to the problematic relationship between the use of urban space, informal labor and racialized migration, and inquires, in light of growing discrimination, into the inclusive capacity of public spaces in a European city such as Berlin
