Thema der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die politolinguistische Untersuchung des klassischen Populismus Lateinamerikas. Dafür muss vorweg geklärt werden, was der klassische Populismus Lateinamerikas ist und worin die Politolinguistik besteht. In der Folge geht es darum, den klassischen Populismus Lateinamerikas aus politik- und geschichtswissenschaftlicher Perspektive in Argentinien, Brasilien und Mexiko zu erfassen. Es muss bis ins 19. Jahrhundert ausgeholt werden, um den Erfolg des klassischen Populismus bzw. den Aufstieg der Populisten, Juan Perón, Getúlio Vargas und Lázaro Cárdenas, erklären zu können. Am Beispiel dieser drei Präsidenten werden dann die Merkmale des prototypischen klassischen Populisten Lateinamerikas erhoben. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit ist die linguistische Untersuchung von jeweils einer historischen Rede dieser drei Präsidenten. Für die linguistische Analyse wird zuerst ein umfassendes Analyseinstrumentarium entwickelt, das auf fünf Ebenen angesiedelt ist. Es geht um morphosyntaktische, lexikalische, semantische, pragmatische und argumentationsanalytische Untersuchungen. Die Ergebnisse der linguistischen Untersuchungen stellen sich schließlich als aufschlussreiche Ergänzungen zu den Ergebnissen der politik- und geschichtswissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen heraus. Der politolinguistische Ansatz ist somit ein erfolgreicher, innovativer interdisziplinärer Ansatz, der seinen legitimen Platz in den Sozial- und Sprachwissenschaften haben soll.

The topic of this dissertation is the polito-linguistic analysis of classical populism in Latin-America. First of all it has to be clarified what is to be understood by classical populism and what polito-linguistics is all about. The next step is the examination of the era of classical populism in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico from the historical and from the political perspectives. We will have to go back to the 19th century in order to understand the success of classical populism as well as the rise of the populists Perón, Vargas and Cárdenas. The second part of the dissertation is the linguistic analysis of one historical speech of each of the three classical populists. A whole series of analytical tools will have to be developed to analyze the speeches at five different levels: the morphosyntactic, the lexical, the semantic, the pragmatic and the argumentative one. The results of the linguistic analyses turn out to add highly valuable insights to the results of the political and historical analyses. This is why we consider the polito-linguistic approach a successful, innovative and interdisciplinary approach which has to have its legitimate place in both, social sciences and philology. ; eng
