Morais, ein vielbeachteter südamerikanischer Journalist und Biograf, beschreibt zunächst Coelhos heutige große Anziehungskraft; schließlich wird er weltweit wie ein Popstar gefeiert. Dann analysiert er schonungslos Stärken und Schwächen von Coelhos ungewöhnlichem Lebensweg, wobei er auf 170 Tagebücher und 94 Tonkassetten zurückgreifen konnte. So wurde Coelho von seinem Vater als Jugendlicher in die Psychiatrie eingewiesen, weil er Autor und nicht Ingenieur werden wollte. Dort musste er sich mit Elektroschocks behandeln lassen. Erfahrungen mit Drogen, Hexerei und politische Eskapaden schlossen sich an, bis er zu einem ganz eigenen Glauben fand und lebte, was er schrieb. Nicht nur esoterisch Interessierten empfohlen. (2)
