Der 1. Kriminalroman (zuvor "Katerstimmung", ID-A 30/13) des 1985 in Freiburg geborenen Autors stellt den Berliner Kriminalkommissar Jerusalem "Jay" Schmitt in den Mittelpunkt. Nach den Morden an 2 Inhabern einer Hotelkette, die mit einem farbigen Punkt markiert wurden, findet Jay heraus, dass sie Teil einer Serie sind. Lange ist aber nicht klar, was die Ermordeten genau verbindet. Schließlich stößt Jay auf einen Vorfall in der Vorgeschichte der Hotelkette. Dieser führt ihn zu dem Mörder. Der Kommissar ist interessant angelegt, leidet er doch unter der Trennung von seiner ebenfalls bei der Polizei tätigen Freundin. Zudem verliebt er sich in eine Zeugin in dem Fall, die aber, wie sich am Ende herausstellt, mehr involviert ist, als sie ursprünglich zugab. Auch wird das Hotelmilieu überzeugend geschildert und der Autor gibt einige authentisch wirkende Einblicke in Berliner Eigenarten und Gegenden. Kurz: Ein spannender Krimi mit einer gelungenen Hauptfigur. Daraus könnte sich eine erfolgreiche Serie entwickeln. Empfohlen, auch für kleinere Büchereien.
