In diesem Interview erzählt sie von ihrem schwierigen Lebensweg und erläutert ihre Sicht der gesellschaftlichen und politischen Ereignisse des 20. Jahrhunderts.

Hannah Arendt in New York [Gekürzte Fassung]. - Das Gespräch, das der französische Journalist Roger Errera mit der Philosophin Hannah Arendt im Jahr 1973 führte, lässt eine Frau zu Wort kommen, deren kritischer Blick auf die Welt nichts an Aktualität eingebüßt hat. Das noch nie zuvor im deutschen Fernsehen gesendete Interview mit der Philosophin Hanna Arendt führte der französische Journalist Roger Errera 1973 in New York. Errera sprach mit der mittlerweile amerikanischen Staatsbürgerin über ihr Paria-Dasein als Jüdin in Deutschland und den Brückenschlag zwischen Europa und den USA. Das ambivalente Amerika-Bild, das die Philosophin in dem Gespräch zeichnet, ihre Kommentare zu gesellschaftlichem und politischem Engagement und zur Demokratie sowie ihr kritischer Blick auf die zunehmend apolitische Konsumgesellschaft der westlichen Welt haben auch heute - mehr als 30 Jahre später - noch nichts von ihrer Gültigkeit eingebüßt. Im Gegenteil: angesichts der politischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung erscheinen Hannah Arendts Analysen und Prognosen fast prophetisch.
