Klappentext: Zwischen 1949 und 1973 war die Rosenburg im Bonner Stadtteil Kessenich Sitz des Bundesministeriums der Justiz. Wie in vielen anderen Ministerien der jungen Bundesrepublik setzten dort zahlreiche ehemalige NS-Bedienstete ihre Karriere nahezu bruchlos fort. Dieser Band bündelt die Forschungsergebnisse der vom Ministerium eingesetzten Kommission zur Erforschung der NS-Vergangenheit der Behörde. Die Autoren weisen anhand zahlreicher Mitarbeiterbiografien nach, in welchem Ausmaß Vertreter des NS-Justizapparats zentrale Positionen in einem Amt hatten, das doch für den Aufbau und die Sicherung des demokratischen Rechtsstaats zuständig war. Aber nicht nur wurden ehemalige Mitarbeiter des Reichsjustizministeriums, der Sonder- und Militärgerichte anstandslos wieder in den Staatsdienst integriert. Vielmehr prägten diese Juristen auch die Rechtsprechung der Nachkriegszeit und spielten unter anderem eine zentrale Rolle bei der Amnestierung von NS-Tätern. So ist diese umfangreiche Darstellung nicht nur ein wesentlicher Beitrag zur Aufarbeitung der NS-Belastung in der Justiz nach 1945. Sie wirft darüber hinaus ein Schlaglicht auf den unzureichenden Prozess der Entnazifizierung und die "Schlussstrich-Mentalität" der Nachkriegszeit.
