Abstract:
Historic collections are of interest when they are substantial, various, representative of their impact on history, easily accessible and well documented. Bibles shape culture and language, they present denominational, politic and society issues and developments in a condensed form, connect texts and pictures as well as primary sources and additions. Besides this complex structure, other characteristics like provenance, covers and colourings which make every specimen unique have to be considered for the documentation. In addition, there are different kinds of Bibles like illustrated and missionary Bibles.
