Er analysiert und synchronisiert die Fülle teils neuester Quellen mit den Lebensstationen, woraus sich nachvollziehbar eine etwas andere Perspektive ergibt: Das Heiligenstädter Testament als Dokument einer transformativen Krise markiert den Aufbruch in eine neue Form der "Schicksalsbewältigung", manifestiert vor allem in neuer Kompositionstechnik. Diese 2. Schaffenshälfte wird begleitet von Erzherzog Rudolf (seine Rolle erscheint in völlig neuem Licht) und Josephine von Brunsvik, deren Tochter Minona vermutlich von Beethoven stammt (sehr luzide dokumentiert), beide oft Widmungsträger.
