Mary Wurm, aus England stammend und in Deutschland zur Pianistin und Komponistin ausgebildet, gehörte zu den prägenden Musikerinnen dieser Zeit, und ihre Wirksamkeit kann als typisch auch für andere Zeitgenossinnen gelten. Neben ihren eindrucksvollen Leistungen als Pianistin und Komponistin engagierte sie sich auch politisch. Monika Tibbe hat in aufwendiger Recherche zahlreiche Quellen zu May Wurms Biographie, zu den Kompositionen, zur Karriere als Pianistin und Dirigentin und zu ihrer musikschriftstellerischen Arbeit zusammengetragen und auf dieser Grundlage eine neue ausführliche Würdigung dieser vielseitigen Künstlerin geschaffen.
