Eigentlich wartete man seit der Finanzkrise vor 10 Jahren auf einen Gegenentwurf aus der Wirtschaftswissenschaft in Richtung eines nachhaltigen Wirtschaftens, dieses Buch könnte es aber sein: Eine britische Ökonomin seziert die in eine falsche Richtung (Stichwort: Wachstum) ausgerichtete Volkswirtschaftslehre und setzt Stück für Stück ein Wirtschaftsmodell dagegen, das einen Gegenentwurf darstellt. Sie schreibt sehr nüchtern, zeigt die Fakten auf und arbeitet insbesondere mit Visualisierungen, welche oft den gängigen Visualisierungen der Volkswirtschaftslehre entgegen gesetzt sind. Zentral für das Buch und den Titel ist eine Grafik, in der die wichtigsten Variablen aufgelistet sind. Diese Grafik sieht wie ein Donut aus, daher der Titel des Buches. Dieses Modell ergänzt gut verschiedene Ansätze von Gemeinwohl-Theoretikern und ATTAC-Mitgliedern wie beispielsweise Christian Felber, da es sich hier um ein abgerundetes, in sich stimmiges Konzept handelt. Das Buch ist sorgsam mit Schwarz-Weiss-Illustrationen versehen und enthält neben dem "Apparat" ein Personen-/Sachregister. (2)
