Today, he is married to a Wichí woman with whom he has had five children who babble in English, Wichí, and Spanish. John Palmer arribó al Chaco Salteño hace más de 30 años con un doctorado de Oxford, con el objetivo estudiar la cultura Wichi. Lentamente su vida se ha ido involucrado en su objeto de estudioy hoy convive con Tojueia, una mujer aborigen con la que tiene 5 hijos que balbucean inglés, wichi y español. Como asesor legal de la comunidad Lapacho Mocho, como parte de la familia ahora, John intenta obtener la libertad de Qatú, un miembro de la comunidad que hace 5 años se encuentra en prisión acusado de abusar de la hija de su mujer.
