    Content: Die Vielschichtigkeit des Begriffs der 'Sublimation'/'Sublimierung' ermöglicht es, selbst auf den ersten Blick heterogene künstlerische Praktiken miteinander in Beziehung zu setzen. Unter dieser Prämisse betrachten internationale Autor*innen im vorliegenden Band das Feld künstlerischer Praktiken der 1950er bis 1970er Jahre, die sich ungreifbarer Materialien sowie prozesshafter Arbeitsformen bedienen. Der Fokus der Beiträge liegt dabei auf der Transformation von Materie, die im Sublimationsprozess stattfindet, aber auch auf den Verständnissen und Verwendungsweisen von Materie und Material. Bei den Untersuchungen wird zudem die Rolle fokussiert, die Materialien in den verschiedensten Zuständen innerhalb künstlerischer Praktiken gespielt haben. Dazu werden auch philosophische Konzepte der Sublimierung miteinbezogen, welche die Verbindungslinien zwischen Geist und Materie betonen.
