Abstract: Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) encapsulated by polyaniline (PANI) were synthesized by in situ polymerization. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to characterize the synthesized composites (O-MWCNTs/PANI), and the surface area was calculated by the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method. The removal capacity of alizarin yellow R (AYR) with O-MWCNTs/PANI was further investigated. Experiments were conducted to optimize the adsorption conditions, including contact time, pH, initial concentration of AYR and temperature. The results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity for AYR was 884.80 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics and the adsorption isotherm could be better described by the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir isotherm, respectively. Energy changes revealed that the adsorption process was exothermic and spontaneous in nature. Additionally, the O-MWCNTs/PANI showed higher adsorption capacity than pristine MWCNTs or PANI. Therefore, O-MWCNTs/PANI would be applied as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of dye from water.

Abstract: In order to study the influence of torque load on the lubrication and wear of the sliding bearing of the rigid rotor system, the theoretical and experimental researches on the single-span rotor system with low speed were carried out. A special force sensor was used to measure the bearing load under different torque excitations, and the oil film pressure was calculated. The oil film pressure and thickness of sliding bearing under low speed (210r/min) were simulated by combining the lubrication theory. Based on the film thickness ratio theory, the corresponding relationship between the lubrication state and the torque load value was deduced. In addition, the wear rate and abrasive grain morphology of sliding bearing with different torque values were analyzed by means of oil sample preparation to verify this correspondence. The results show that the film thickness ratio has a logarithmic function relationship with the constant torque load, and the film thickness ratio curve can be used to determine the corresponding torque values under different lubrication states. The wear rate under mixed lubrication state increases exponentially with the torque load, and the main wear mechanism is adhesive wear and abrasive wear. The research results have certain guiding significance to the adjustment of the actual running condition of sliding bearing and its life prediction.

Abstract: Background. Lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is a newly identified posttranslational modification type regulated by various enzymes and coenzymes, including lysine crotonyltransferase, lysine decrotonylase, and binding proteins. However, the role of Kcr regulators in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remains unknown. The aim of this study was to establish and validate a Kcr-related prognostic signature of HNSCC and to assess the clinical predictive value of this signature. Methods. The mRNA expression profiles and clinicopathological data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database were downloaded to explore the clinical significance and prognostic value of these regulators in HNSCC. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression model was used to generate the Kcr-related prognostic signature for HNSCC. Subsequently, the GSE65858 dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was used to validate the signature. The prognostic value of the signature was evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier survival, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. Results. We established a nine-gene risk signature associated with the prognosis of HNSCC based on Kcr regulators. High-risk patients demonstrated significantly poorer overall survival (OS) than low-risk patients in the training (TCGA) and validation (GEO) datasets. Then, the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that the nine-gene risk signature was more accurate for predicting the 5-year OS than other clinical parameters, including age, gender, T stage, N stage, and histologic grade in the TCGA and GEO datasets. Moreover, the Cox regression analysis showed that the constructed risk signature was an independent risk factor for HNSCC. Conclusion. Our study identified and validated a nine-gene signature for HNSCC based on Kcr regulators. These results might contribute to prognosis stratification and treatment escalation for HNSCC patients.

Abstract: In the study of sequence stratigraphy in continental rift basins, the use of seismic data to track different levels of sequence stratigraphic boundaries laterally is the key to the division of sequence stratigraphic units at all levels and the establishment of an isochronous sequence stratigraphic framework. Traditional seismic interpretation and the establishment of a 3D sequence stratigraphic structure model are a difficult research work. This paper introduces the concept of cost function minimization and performs global stratigraphic scanning on 3D seismic data to interpret horizons and faults in a large grid. Constrained by the results, human-computer interactive intelligent interpretation, by adding iterative interpretation of geological knowledge, established a global stratigraphic model with a relative geological age. The application in the Lower Cretaceous Shahezi Formation of Xujiaweizi fault depression shows that this technology has improved the accuracy and efficiency of sequence stratigraphic interpretation, and the application of this technology has achieved the interpretation of each event horizon under the current seismic data resolution conditions. In this way, a continuous sequence stratigraphic model is established. From this stratigraphic model, any high-frequency sequence-interpreted seismic horizon can be extracted, which provides a basis for the combination of lateral resolution and longitudinal resolution of subsequent reservoir prediction.

Abstract: Fixation is the key step to improve the quality of sea buckthorn leaf tea. Composition and activity are important indexes to evaluate the quality of sea buckthorn leaf tea. Comparing the effects of fixation methods on components and activities provides a theoretical basis for the contemporary, controllable, and continuous production of sea buckthorn leaf tea. The effects of six different fixed methods, pan-firing fixed (PF), steaming fixed (SF), boiling water fixed (BF), hot air fixed (HF), microwave fixed (MWF), and infrared fixed (IRF) for sea buckthorn leaf tea in terms of α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, lipase inhibitory ability, and the antioxidant capacity were studied. The total flavonoids (TF) content, total soluble phenolics (TP) content, water-soluble carbohydrate (WSC) content, the inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase, lipase inhibitory ability, and the antioxidant capacity of fixed sea buckthorn leaf tea were significantly higher ( p ≤ 0.05 ) compared with sea buckthorn leaf. IRF and MWF samples had higher ( p ≤ 0.05 ) contents of TF (92.48 mg RE/g and 79.20 mg RE/g), TP (115.37 mg GA/g and 135.18 mg GA/g) and WSC (4.24% and 4.39%). The DPPH radical scavenging activity of the SF sample was the strongest one, followed by the MWF sample and IRF sample ( p ≤ 0.05 ). The hydroxyl radical scavenging ability and reducing power of IRF were the strongest one, followed by the MWF sample ( p ≤ 0.05 ). The IRF sample had the strongest α-glucosidase inhibitory activity ( p ≤ 0.05 ), and the MWF sample had the strongest lipase inhibitory ability while samples contained the same amount of total polyphenols ( p ≤ 0.05 ). Principal component analysis results showed that the IRF sample, MWF sample, and SF sample had higher comprehensive principal component values. MWF takes less time than IRF, which operated at 2,450 MHz (full power of 700 W) for 2 min. Therefore, MWF was the most suitable fixation method for sea buckthorn leaf tea. Practical Applications. Leaf tea is the main product of sea buckthorn leaf. However, at present, the quality of sea buckthorn leaf tea in the market is uneven, the processing methods are diverse, and there is no certain quality standard. This paper provides some data support and theoretical support for the production, processing, and purchase of sea buckthorn leaf tea.

Abstract: Net primary productivity (NPP) is an important indicator for grassland resource management and sustainable development. In this paper, the NPP of Sichuan grasslands was estimated by the Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach (CASA) model. The results were validated with in situ data. The overall precision reached 70%; alpine meadow had the highest precision at greater than 75%, among the three types of grasslands validated. The spatial and temporal variations of Sichuan grasslands were analyzed. The absorbed photosynthetic active radiation (APAR), light use efficiency ( ε ), and NPP of Sichuan grasslands peaked in August, which was a vigorous growth period during 2011. High values of APAR existed in the southwest regions in altitudes from 2000 m to 4000 m. Light use efficiency ( ε ) varied in the different types of grasslands. The Sichuan grassland NPP was mainly distributed in the region of 3000–5000 m altitude. The NPP of alpine meadow accounted for 50% of the total NPP of Sichuan grasslands.

Abstract: Salmonella enteritidis can cause significant morbidity and mortality in humans and economic loss in the animal industry. Improving the innate immunity is an effective method to prevent S. enteritidis infection. Pediococcus pentosaceus is a Gram-positive coccus which had probiotics properties. Numerous previously published studies reported that probiotics were beneficial to gut microbiota by changing the intestinal flora structure and inhibiting the harmful microbial growth to enhance the innate immunity. We investigated the immunological effects of P. pentosaceus on Salmonella-infected chickens by the following experiment. A total of 120 broilers from AA line were fed and divided into 2 groups (treated and control groups) for the experiment from day 1. The control group was fed with the basic diet, while the treated group was fed with the basic diet adding P. pentosaceus microcapsule with the bacterial concentration of 1 g/kg in the feed and bacterial counts 2.5 × 10 9  CFU/g. All the birds were given with 0.5 ml of S. enteritidis bacterial suspension (109 CFU/ml) through oral cavity at day 9. The number of dead birds was recorded and used in the analysis. The bacterial culture method and quantitative real-time PCR analysis were used to evaluate the effects of P. pentosaceus on chickens infected with S. enteritidis and to ascertain the mechanism of the effect. The results showed that the P. pentosaceus could restrain the pathogenicity of S. enteritidis and reduce the death rate from 44.4% to 23.3%. The flora in the caecum exhibited “rising-declining” trends, and the gene (TLR4, MyD88, TRAF6 NF-κB, IFN-β, TNF-a, IL6, and IL8) expression pattern was different between the experimental and control group. P. pentosaceus as a probiotic may competitively inhibit the growth of S. enteritidis and control the inflammatory response through regulating the gene expression which involved in the toll-like receptor pathway and inflammation pathway.

Abstract: Vitamin D (VD) deficiency is associated with neuroinflammation and neurocognitive deficits in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The present study was aimed at investigating the therapeutic effects of VD and the molecular mechanisms after TBI. After the intraperitoneal injection of VD (1 μg/kg), sensorimotor and cognitive function was assessed via a series of behavioral tests in TBI rats. Traumatic outcomes were investigated by brain edema, blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption, and morphologic staining. In vitro, cellular viability and cytotoxicity in primary hippocampal neurons were detected via the MTT method and LDH release. Hippocampal oxidative stress-related enzymes and proinflammatory mediators and the serum concentration of VD were analyzed by ELISA. The expression of VDR, TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB p65 was measured by Western blot. Furthermore, the levels of M1/M2 microglial markers were quantified using real-time PCR and Western blot. VD treatment significantly increased the serum level of VD and the hippocampal expression of VDR. VD not only effectively alleviated neurocognitive deficits, brain edema, and BBB disruption but also promoted hippocampal neuronal survival in vivo and in vitro. Moreover, VD therapy prevented excessive neuroinflammation and oxidative stress caused by TBI. Mechanically, the hippocampal expression of TLR4, MyD88, and nuclear NF-κB p65 was elevated in the TBI group but robustly restrained by VD treatment. Taken together, VD provides an important neuroprotection through modulating hippocampal microglial M2 polarization and neuroinflammation via the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway.

Abstract: Background. The neuroprotective effects of Paeoniflorin (PF) are well known. Most of the evidence was verified in vivo. We attempted to perform an in vitro verification of the effects of PF in microglia. Methods. A lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) exposed microglia model was employed. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure the levels of cytokines in the culture supernatants. A real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to measure the mRNA expression of cytokines and M1- and M2-like genes. A western blot analysis was used to examine the expression of proteins associated with the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway. Results. We found that the administration of PF reversed the inflammatory response induced by LPS. It downregulated proinflammatory cytokines and upregulated anti-inflammatory cytokines. This, in turn, alleviated the oxidative injuries, downregulated the expression of M1-like genes, and upregulated the expression of M2-like genes. PF can also reverse the changes in proteins associated with the NF-κB signaling pathway induced by LPS. Conclusions. We provided evidence obtained in vitro concerning the neuroprotective effects of PF via suppressing activation of microglia, which might be associated with the NF-κB signaling pathway. These findings contribute to obtaining a deeper understanding of PF, a potential new treatment for brain injuries.
