Note: I. Strukturen, Rahmenbedingungen und Voraussetzungen für Geriatrische Notfallversorgung -- II. Versorgungsmodelle -- III. Geriatrische Notfallmedizin.

Series Statement: IMF Working Papers ; Working Paper No. 13/39
Content: Do changes in monetary policy affect inflation and output in the East African Community (EAC)? We find that (i) Monetary Transmission Mechanism (MTM) tends to be generally weak when using standard statistical inferences, but somewhat strong when using non-standard inference methods; (ii) when MTM is present, the precise transmission channels and their importance differ across countries; and (iii) reserve money and the policy rate, two frequently used instruments of monetary policy, sometimes move in directions that exert offsetting expansionary and contractionary effects on inflation—posing challenges to harmonization of monetary policies across the EAC and transition to a future East African Monetary Union. The paper offers some suggestions for strengthening the MTM in the EAC.

Content: Two men command the stage. They discuss in bullish tones what they intend to do to a third man, who sits gagged, blindfolded and bound to a chair. The acts of violence and abuse referred to are present in the speech rather than the action but an oppressive air of menace persists. Pinter directed the first production of this unflinching dramatic sketch, premiered in July 1991 at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, London.

Content: Albert Stokes, a loner in his late twenties, lives with his emotionally-suffocating mother and works in an office. After being falsely accused of groping a female at an office party, he wanders the streets until he meets a girl, who invites him to her flat, where he responds to her overtures by angrily demeaning her. Then he returns home to his mother. 'A Night Out' was first performed on BBC Radio in March 1960. Its performance on television a month later, on 24 April 1960, was Pinter's first big success as a playwright in that medium.

Content: The action of 'Celebration' takes place in a swish London restaurant where two strategy consultants are dining with their respective wives. At an adjacent table a banker and his wife banter over his recently discovered affair. While Pinter gets a lot of laughs out of these gold-plated philistines, he also suggests they are displaced people. Shorn of any inherited values, they live in an eternal present of sex, food and conspicuous consumption. 'Celebration' premiered at the Almeida Theatre, London, in March 2000
