With the 130 Class Corvette a new type of boat will be introduced into the German Navy the main tasks of which include surveillance and reconnaissance ot the surface situation as well es anti-surface warfare. The 130 Class Corvette is to take on he task of anti-ship operations in primarily marginel sea warfare with an improved self-defense capability againast air and surface targets. Combat power, strength and staying power, sustainability, and a high degree of self-protection enable the 130 Class Corvette to conduct operational actions from the high seas into littoral waters and coastal areas and to support joint and combined Operations with shore bombardment. These new capabilities are of particular importance for the task fields of conflict prevention and crisis management. The 130 Class Corvette is fully deployable across the high seas allowing it to contribute to the accomplishment of the mission of the German Navy on an international scale.
