Die Krönung des Habsburgers Friedrich des Schönen im Bonner Münster am 25. November 1314 prägte das römisch-deutsche Königtum nachhaltig, da am gleichen Tag sein Vetter Ludwig der Bayer in Aachen zum König erhoben wurde. In der Folgezeit bekriegten sich beide Herrscher, gelangten aber nach mehr als zehn Jahren zu einem bemerkenswerten Kompromiss und übten die Herrschaft im Rahmen eines Doppelkönigtums gemeinsam aus. Der Band nimmt einen Perspektivenwechsel vor: weg von dem erfolgreicheren und daher intensiver erforschten Ludwig dem Bayern hin zu Friedrich dem Schönen; thematisiert werden neue Aspekte seiner Reichs- und Hausmachtpolitik sowie von Recht, Kultur und Kunst seiner Zeit, die auf einer interdisziplinären Tagung in Bonn anlässlich seines Krönungsjubiläums diskutiert wurden
