Die Rheintöchter bewachen das im Rhein liegende Rheingold, dessen Geheimnis darin besteht, dass ein daraus geschmiedeter Ring zwar Macht über die ganze Welt verleiht, der Besitzer aber auf immer ohne Liebe leben muss. Im Verlauf der Geschichte streiten sich Götter, Riesen und Zwerge um den Ring, auf dem ein Fluch liegt. Jeder, der ihn besitzt, soll unglücklich werden. Vorläufig gehen die Götter als Sieger aus dem Kampf um den Ring hervor und sie beziehen ihre neue Burg Walhall. In 3 weiteren Teilen wird die Geschichte ihren dramatischen Lauf bis zur "Götterdämmerung" nehmen. - Die Protagonisten der text- und personenreichen Geschichte (u.a. Nixen, Zwerge, Götter, Riesen, ein Drache, eine Kröte und sogar ein Tarnhelm) entstammen zwar der kindlichen Vorstellungswelt, sie ist für Kinder ab 5 (Verlagsempfehlung!) aber nicht leicht verständlich. Die Illustrationen erinnern an alte Märchenbücher, Trackangaben im Text verweisen auf die beiliegende CD mit den musikalischen Höhepunkten des Werks. M.E. ab etwa 9 Jahren einsetzbar.
