In städtischen Räumen konkurrieren lebensweltliche Erfahrungen von (Un‑)Sicherheit mit einem formalisiert-objektivistischen Verständnis von (Un‑)Sicherheit, das sich über Statistiken, Tatsachenberichte und Imaginationen generiert und wesentlich die politisch-administrative Entscheidungsfindung und professionelle Sicherheitsproduktion strukturiert. Mit Bezug auf Studien zu Gouvernementalität analysiert der Beitrag diese machtvolle Mikrophysik der Sicherheitsproduktion in Städten. Er untersucht dazu die Wirksamkeit von objektivierten Daten, subjektiven Perzeptionen, Praktiken und Social Imaginaries auf die alltägliche Produktion von Sicherheit. Drei empirische Vignetten veranschaulichen an Beispielen aus Wuppertal und Stuttgart die Praktiken der Sicherheitsproduktion in städtischen Räumen, die unterschiedliche Wirksamkeiten erzeugen und zu einer fragmentierten Sicherheitspolitik führen.
