Mark Lammert ist bildender Künstler. Seine erste Arbeit für das Theater ist der Raum für Heiner Müllers Inszenierung "Duell Traktor Fatzer" 1993 im Berliner Ensemble. Aus dieser Zeit datieren die Grundzüge eines szenischen Denkens, das Mark Lammert in reduzierten, abstrakten und gleichzeitig konkreten Bühnenräumen und Kostümen jenseits jeglicher Dekoration realisiert. Seine Räume bilden niemals nur ein ästhetisches Additiv zur Inszenierung. Sie gestalten keine "Umgebung" und streben keine Komplementarität an. Sie wollen sich nicht "passend" machen, beharren aber auch nicht auf einer bedeutungsvoll aufgeladenen Autonomie. Sie treten nicht dezent in den Hintergrund, sondern sie exponieren sich. Lammerts Arbeiten für Heiner Müller, Jean Jourdheuil, Dimiter Gottscheff, Volker Schlöndorff u. a. werden in einer Dramaturgie von Bildern und Texten dokumentiert, die diesen Bühnenräumen gerecht zu werden sucht
