Scheich Muhammad, ein begeisterter Fliegenfischer mit unbegrenzten Mitteln, will zum Wohle seines Landes, die heimischen Wadis mit Lachsen bevölkern. Er beauftragt Harriet Chetwode-Talbot damit, einen Experten ausfindig zu machen. Die findige Dame stößt auf den schüchternen englischen Fischzuchtexperten Dr. Alfred Jones, der dieses Vorhaben als unmöglich verwirft. Doch die englische Obrigkeit hat ebenfalls Wind von dem Projekt bekommen und will aus Imagegründen dem Wüstenscheich behilflich sein, zumal Geld für den Scheich keine Rolle spielt. Widerwillig reist Jones in den Jemen, um das Unmögliche möglich zu machen. - Lasse Hallström versteht sein Handwerk und so ist "Lachsfischen im Jemen" ein wirklich schöner Film geworden. Auch wenn die Buchvorlage von Paul Torday mehr einer politischen Satire gleicht, überwiegt im Film der komödiantische und romantische Part. Die Chemie zwischen den beiden Hauptdarstellern, Emily Blunt und Ewan McGregor, stimmt, die Dialoge sitzen und die Filmmusik ist äußerst passend arrangiert. Für alle!
