    Content: Este volumen reúne los ensayos de uno de los más grandes congresos científicos que se hayan realizado sobre el fútbol latinoamericano y el mayor en el continente europeo, organizado por miembros de la Asociación Alemana de Investigaciones sobre América Latina (ADLAF) en 2018. Partiendo de la tesis de que no existe algo que se pueda considerar como “el” fútbol latinoamericano, el volumen explora, a lo largo de siete campos temáticos, la relevancia cultural de este deporte en América Latina tanto en el ámbito comunal, como en el institucional, nacional y global a lo largo del tiempo. Desde diferentes perspectivas transdisciplinarias, los autores describen (re)construcciones de pertenencia y exclusión en formaciones cambiantes de identidad comunitaria basadas en distinciones de género, étnicas o de estilo. La lucha permanente por el poder político en y sobre la cancha y sus actores principales, los procesos (acelerados) de migración y el rol de los medios de comunicación, del cine, la literatura y de las representaciones visuales representan los tres grandes ejes de análisis sobre las relaciones dinámicas entre fútbol y sociedad en América Latina
