    Abstract: Gastric organoids are biological models constructed in vitro using stem cell culture and 3D cell culture techniques, which are the latest research hotspots. The proliferation of stem cells in vitro is the key to gastric organoid models, making the cell subsets within the models more similar to in vivo tissues. Meanwhile, the 3D culture technology also provides a more suitable microenvironment for the cells. Therefore, the gastric organoid models can largely restore the growth condition of cells in terms of morphology and function in vivo. As the most classic organoid models, patient-derived organoids use the patient’s own tissues for in vitro culture. This kind of model is responsive to the ‘disease information’ of a specific patient and has great effect on evaluating the strategies of individualized treatment. Herein, we review the current literature on the establishment of organoid cultures, and also explore organoid translational applications.

    Abstract: Geothermal resources, as a representative of clean energy, has been paid significant attention in the world. Due to active neotectonics and widespread magmatic rocks, the abundant geothermal waters in the Kangding area have been investigated. Hydrochemistry and D–O–T isotopy studies were carried out to clarify the genetic mechanism of geothermal waters. The hydrochemical types of geothermal waters are mainly Ca2+–Na+–HCO3− type, Na+–Cl−–HCO3− type, and Na+–HCO3− type. Silicate dissolution and the cation exchange process are the water–rock interactions determining hydrochemical compositions. The recharge elevation of geothermal water was calculated to be 3034–3845 m, with an average of 3416 m. The reservoir temperatures of shallow and deep geothermal reservoirs vary from 50 to 115 °C and from 114 to 219 °C, respectively, and the mixing ratio of cold water is 0.56–0.89. These findings help to reveal the genetic mechanism of geothermal waters in the Kangding area.

    Abstract: Fertilizer application, especially their physical and chemical composition, substantially regulates crop growth and development. The form in which fertilizers are applied to the soil has always been regarded as a crucial factor regulating nutrient availability. However, the properties and release characteristics of Mg fertilizers, i.e., fast-release Mg (F-Mg) and slow-release Mg (S-Mg), have not been fully elucidated in acidic soils. This study characterized the different Mg fertilizers, and their release characteristics were verified through pot (using soybean) and field (using pomelo) experiments. The results showed that, despite the differences between different Mg fertilizers, the same functional group peaks were recorded among them. F-Mg fertilizers had a low pH and low Mg purity, while S-Mg fertilizers had a high pH and high Mg purity. The release rate and leaching characteristics of the F-Mg fertilizers were higher than the S-Mg fertilizers. The pot experiment showed that the yield and growth of soybean were higher under the S-Mg fertilizer than the F-Mg fertilizer. However, MgSO4·7H2O and MgO had the best effect among the F-Mg and S-Mg fertilizers, respectively. The effects of these two fertilizers were further validated using field experiments, and it was found that MgSO4·7H2O and MgO fertilizers substantially improved the yield and quality of pomelo. However, MgO showed a better effect than MgSO4·7H2O. This study can provide a sound theoretical basis for selecting the most efficient type of Mg fertilizer for acid soils. It can contribute valuable information regarding farmland management strategies and may result in sustainable agricultural productivity.

    Abstract: The Chinese government is attempting to readjust the relationship of farmland rights by farmland rights system reform to optimize the allocation of farmland by market means. Therefore, this study is aimed at exploring the effectiveness of the farmland rights system reform from decentralization to centralization and its impacts on agricultural modernization. In this study, the shift theory of land rights is introduced to analyze the approach of the reform promoting agricultural modernization, and the practice of Yuyang District as evidence illustrates that the reform is a further extension of the land marketization reform, which clears the obstacles of market allocation of farmlands and promotes agricultural modernization by achieving three objectives of agricultural production. The results of this study show the reform is beneficial to a high level of yield, efficient production, and environment friendly in agricultural production, so the reform indirectly promotes agricultural modernization. Meanwhile, Yuyang District’s experiences show that the farmland issue is a complex one, which should be considered from the perspectives of public benefits and private benefits, and appropriate farmland rights system reform is a policy accelerator for facilitating agricultural modernization. Generally, this study not only innovatively links the farmland rights system reform with the three objectives of agricultural production to analysis impact mechanism of the reform on agricultural modernization, but it also confirms the effectiveness of the reform design of the central government and provides some advanced experiences for other regions.

    Abstract: This article proposes a CBAM-ASPP-SqueezeNet model based on the attention mechanism and atrous spatial pyramid pooling (CBAM-ASPP) to solve the problem of robot multi-target grasping detection. Firstly, the paper establishes and expends a multi-target grasping dataset, as well as introduces and uses transfer learning to conduct network pre-training on the single-target dataset and slightly modify the model parameters using the multi-target dataset. Secondly, the SqueezeNet model is optimized and improved using the attention mechanism and atrous spatial pyramid pooling module. The paper introduces the attention mechanism network to weight the transmitted feature map in the channel and spatial dimensions. It uses a variety of parallel operations of atrous convolution with different atrous rates to increase the size of the receptive field and preserve features from different ranges. Finally, the CBAM-ASPP-SqueezeNet algorithm is verified using the self-constructed, multi-target capture dataset. When the paper introduces transfer learning, the various indicators converge after training 20 epochs. In the physical grabbing experiment conducted by Kinova and SIASUN Arm, a network grabbing success rate of 93% was achieved.

    Abstract: Along with the growth of graph neural networks (GNNs), many researchers have adopted metapath-based GNNs to handle complex heterogeneous graph embedding. The conventional definition of a metapath only distinguishes whether there is a connection between nodes in the network schema, where the type of edge is ignored. This leads to inaccurate node representation and subsequently results in suboptimal prediction performance. In heterogeneous graphs, a node can be connected by multiple types of edges. In fact, each type of edge represents one kind of scene. The intuition is that if the embedding of nodes is trained under different scenes, the complete representation of nodes can be obtained by organically combining them. In this paper, we propose a novel definition of a metapath whereby the edge type, i.e., the relation between nodes, is integrated into it. A heterogeneous graph can be considered as the compound of multiple relation subgraphs from the view of a novel metapath. In different subgraphs, the embeddings of a node are separately trained by encoding and aggregating the neighbors of the intrapaths, which are the instance levels of a novel metapath. Then, the final embedding of the node is obtained by the use of the attention mechanism which aggregates nodes from the interpaths, which is the semantic level of the novel metapaths. Link prediction is a downstream task by which to evaluate the effectiveness of the learned embeddings. We conduct extensive experiments on three real-world heterogeneous graph datasets for link prediction. The empirical results show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines; in particular, when comparing it to the best baseline, the F1 metric is increased by 10.35% over an Alibaba dataset.

    Abstract: Captive breeding has been used as an effective approach to protecting endangered animals but its effect on the gut microbiome and the conservation status of these species is largely unknown. The giant panda is a flagship species for the conservation of wildlife. With integrated efforts including captive breeding, this species has been recently upgraded from “endangered” to “vulnerable” (IUCN 2016). Since a large proportion (21.8%) of their global population is still captive, it is critical to understand how captivity changes the gut microbiome of these pandas and how such alterations to the microbiome might affect their future fitness and potential impact on the ecosystem after release into the wild. Here, we use 16S rRNA (ribosomal RNA) marker gene sequencing and shotgun metagenomics sequencing to demonstrate that the fecal microbiomes differ substantially between wild and captive giant pandas. Fecal microbiome diversity was significantly lower in captive pandas, as was the diversity of functional genes. Additionally, captive pandas have reduced functional potential for cellulose degradation but enriched metabolic pathways for starch metabolism, indicating that they may not adapt to a wild diet after being released into the wild since a major component of their diet in the wild will be bamboo. Most significantly, we observed a significantly higher level of amylase activity but a lower level of cellulase activity in captive giant panda feces than those of wild giant pandas, shown by an in vitro experimental assay. Furthermore, antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors, as well as heavy metal tolerance genes were enriched in the microbiomes of captive pandas, which raises a great concern of spreading these genes to other wild animals and ecosystems when they are released into a wild environment. Our results clearly show that captivity has altered the giant panda microbiome, which could have unintended negative consequences on their adaptability and the ecosystem during the reintroduction of giant pandas into the wild.

    Abstract: The aim of this systematic review was to summarize concentrations of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) in the Chinese population. We searched articles originally published in both Chinese and English. When compiling data, lactation was categorized into five stages. We found that 6′-sialyllactose, lacto-N-tetraose, and lacto-N-neotetraose decreased over lactation. Conversely, 3′-fucosyllactose increased over lactation. Our study represents the first systematic review to summarize HMO concentrations in Chinese population. Our findings not only provide data on HMO profiles in Chinese population but suggest future directions in the study of the metabolism of HMOs.
