Das Schlagwort von den "Parallelgesellschaften", in denen sich die Migranten abschotten, wird heute gern und häufig beschworen. Diese Studie hält dagegen und beschreibt einen gesellschaftlichen Pluralismus, wie er in der Organisation, Selbstorganisation und Vernetzung von Migrantenvereinen, Ausländerbeiräten und Selbsthilfenetzwerken gelebt wird. Diese vorhandene Vielfalt wird als positiver Beitrag zur Integration gesehen. Die ausländischen Gruppierungen werden als Teil unserer pluralen Gesellschaft vorgeführt. Hinter dieser Einschätzung steht ein Verständnis von Integration, das die Pflege der eigenen Herkunftskultur nicht als integrationshemmend begreift und eine chancengleiche Partizipation aller als Lernzielvorgabe in einer Einwanderungsgesellschaft sieht. Eine wichtige und interessante empirische Studie über die Organisationsstrukturen der Migranten und ihre öffentliche Förderung in einzelnen Bundesländern, die auch problematische Bereiche (Milli Görüs) nicht ignoriert. - Für größere Bestände sehr zu empfehlen.
