Abstract: 1. Fast ein Viertel der Personen ab 17 Jahren kennt mindestens eine Person, die Hilfe oder Pflege benötigt. Neun Prozent der Personen ab 17 Jahren leisten tatsächlich diese benötigte Unterstützung. Sowohl die Kenntnis über den Unterstützungsbedarf anderer als auch die tatsächlich geleistete Hilfe sind in der Alters-gruppe 55 bis 64 Jahre besonders hoch. 2. Für wen Hilfe oder Pflege geleistet wird, verändert sich im Laufe des Lebens. Im jüngeren und mittleren Erwachsenenalter sind es vor allem die Eltern bzw. Schwiegereltern, die unterstützt werden. Ab 65 Jahren ist es vor allem der Partner bzw. die Partnerin, um die sich Personen kümmern. 3. Durch die Personengruppe, die gepflegt oder unterstützt wird, macht sich meist auch fest, an welchem Ort diese Unterstützung erfolgt. Die 17- bis 64-Jährigen helfen oder pflegen am häufigsten eine Person, die in einem anderen Haushalt lebt.
