Die gegenwärtige Situation der Weltpolitik gibt kaum Anlass zu viel Optimismus. Krisenregionen sind nur schwer international beeinflussbar, die sogenannten "Schurkenstaaten" zeigen immer mehr die Ohnmacht internationaler Organisationen. Der amerikanische Politologe analysiert äußerst nüchtern diese Realitäten. Die USA können ihrer Rolle als Ordnungsmacht kaum mehr gerecht werden, und die Entwicklung der Schwellenländer ist noch voll im Gange. Auch die Staaten der G 9 verlieren an Einfluss, die der G 20 sind noch lange nicht so weit, um Wirksamkeit zu entfalten. Der Verfasser sieht die einzige Chance, der krisenhaften Situation Herr zu werden, in der weiteren Globalisierung und im Abschluss von Freihandelsabkommen. Die Globalisierung mit der Folge der weiteren Verzahnung der Wirtschaftssysteme zwingt zur Zusammenarbeit und Konfliktbewältigung. Interessanter Diskussionsbeitrag, der auch Basiswissen vermittelt.
