    Content: Die Untersuchung lotet Möglichkeiten und Grenzen einer veränderten Diagnosekultur in einem auf Kompetenzerwerb ausgerichteten Englischunterricht aus. Die zentrale Fragestellung besteht darin, zu erkunden, welche Faktorenkomplexe für Englischlehrkräfte bei ihrem Umgang mit Fragen des Assessments von Bedeutung und Einfluss sind und welche Beschaffenheit diese Konstrukte aufweisen. Die empirische Basis bildet eine qualitative Interviewstudie mit Englischlehrkräften, deren Daten mittels einer adaptierten Form der qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse ausgewertet wurden. Es ließ sich feststellen, dass die Befragten trotz ihres generellen Interesses am Themenkomplex Assessment nur selten ein Instrumentarium nutzen, das kompetenzstufenbezogenes Beobachten, eine Analyse von Aufgabenschwierigkeiten und folglich individuelles Fördern auf der Basis von Kompetenzentwicklungsmodellen zum Ziel hat
