Abstract:
Interoperability between engineering tools describes their ability to interact and collaborate across tool borders and engineering phases. It is recognized as a key for efficiency, but widely not established. This contribution gives an overview of current concepts and provides an approach for the objective evaluation of the openness of commercial engineering tools. Furthermore, the authors provide an approach for the exchange of mutually used data in engineering tools.
