Fluglotsenarbeitsplätze in den Kontrollzentren der Flugsicherung verfügen über ein zentral angebrachtes Radardisplay. Die laterale Position der Luftfahrzeuge wird auf einer kartenähnlichen Luftlagedarstellung zweidimensional anzeigt. Die Flughöhe wird alphanumerisch auf einem zusätzlichen Beschriftungsfeld eingeblendet. Die Verknüpfung dieser Informationen zu einem fusionierten Verkehrsbild stellt hohe Anforderungen an die Fluglotsen. Es wird angenommen, dass eine integrierte, dreidimensionale Darstellung eine Unterstützung für bestimmte Aufgaben der Flugsicherung bietet. In diesem Zusammenhang beschäftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit der Eignung stereoskopischer 3D Displays als zentrales Anzeigeelement von Fluglotsenarbeitsplätzen. Basierend auf einer Anforderungsanalyse sowie unter Einbezug relevanter Gestaltungsrichtlinien und -normen wurde ein prototypischer Arbeitsplatz entwickelt.

Dieser wurde im Rahmen der Arbeit zur Durchführung zweier Studien verwendet, deren Zielsetzung die vergleichende Untersuchung von 2D- und 3D-Luftlagedarstellungen im Nutzungskontext ist. Im Zuge des ersten Versuchs wurde die Erkennung potentieller Kollisionsgefahren zwischen Luftfahrzeugen als relevante Aufgabe aus dem Spektrum der Flugsicherung herausgegriffen. Das Probandenkollektiv bestand dabei aus Fluglotsen, Piloten und Laien. In Ergänzung des standardisierten Versuchs wurde eine zusätzliche Simulator-Studie im realitätsnahen Umfeld mit aktiven Fluglotsen der Flugsicherung durchgeführt. Der Aufgabenumfang der Anflugkontrolle wurde dabei umfänglich abgebildet. Im Rahmen der Studien konnten bei den stereoskopischen Darstellungen u.a. verlängerte Antwortlatenzzeiten beobachtet werden. Hinsichtlich der Aufgabenerfüllung zeigen die Ergebnisse keine auffälligen Unterschiede zwischen den Anzeigen.

Die zudem erhobenen Parameter zur Arbeitsbelastung, Gebrauchstauglichkeit sowie zum Situationsbewusstsein liefern ergänzende Hinweise zu den Eigenschaften stereoskopischer Darstellungen. Die im Zuge der Simulator-Studie mit Fluglotsen durchgeführten Leitfadeninterviews bieten umfangreiche Hinweise zur Gestaltung und Anwendung dreidimensionaler Luftlagedarstellungen im heutigen sowie zukünftigen Nutzungskontext. Die Erkenntnisse der vorliegenden Arbeit leisten einen Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung der Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstelle an Fluglotsenarbeitsplätzen
