In den 80er Jahren waren insbesondere die beiden bankrotten Metropolen Berlin und New York Treffpunkt einer Subkultur, die sich ohne ökonomischen Druck selbst erfahren und mit allen Mitteln ausdrücken wollte. Die Kulturdokumentation rekonstruiert die extrem kreativen und inspirierenden Szenen in beiden Städten, ihre künstlerischen Äußerungen und Manifestationen, die Motive und Haltungen ihrer Protagonisten mit dem einmaligen Blick eines Insiders: Regisseur Christoph Dreher gehörte mit seiner Band "Die Haut" zu den Protagonisten der No Wave-Szene der 80er Jahre. Gemeinsam mit langjährigen Freunden und Weggefährten wie Jim Jarmusch, Blixa Bargeld, Lydia Lunch, Nick Cave und vielen anderen mehr taucht er mit diesem Film ein in eine Übergangszeit, in der nichts sicher und gerade deshalb alles möglich schien.
