Abstract: Apatura ilia (Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775) and A. iris (Linnaeus, 1758) are fascinating butterflies found in the Palaearctic ecozone (excepting the north of Africa). The wings of these insects are covered with a great number of two types of scales positioned like roof tiles. Type I scales are on the surface, while type II scales are situated below them. The structural color of the type I scales is recognized only on the dorsal side of both the fore and hind wings of the males of the aforementioned species. Both types of scales are responsible for pigment color of the wings, but iridescence is observed only in the type I scales. The brilliant structural color is due to a multilayer structure. The features of the scales, their dimensions and fine structure were obtained using scanning electron microscopy. Cross sections of the scales were then analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. The scales of the “normal” and clytie forms of A. ilia have a different nanostructure, but are of the same type. A similar type of structure, but with a different morphology, was also noticed in A. iris . The scales of the analyzed species resemble the scales of tropical Morpho butterflies. Microsc. Res. Abstract: The pseudoscorpions of the genera Chthonius C.L. Koch, 1843 (Chthoniidae) and Roncus L. Koch, 1873 (Neobisiidae) from caves in Serbia, Yugoslavia, have been studied. Three new species, Chthonius ( Globochthonius ) purgo , Chthonius ( Ephippiochthonius ) kemza , and Roncus talason are described. A reanalysis of the type material of three subspecies of Chthonius and Roncus from Serbian caves has supported their elevation to full specific rank: Chthonius ( Globochthonius ) pancici Ćurčić, 1972, Roncus remesianensis Ćurčić, 1981, and R. timacensis Ćurčić, 1981. All species studied are considered endemics of the Balkan Peninsula. Diagnostic characters of the analysed taxa are thoroughly described or figured. Taxonomic interrelationships and geographical distribution are briefly discussed.

Abstract: New records of nematode parasitism of harvestmen (Opiliones: Arachnida) are reported and a list of all published records of nematode parasitism of these arachnids is presented. Nomenclatorial problems of early mermithid citations are discussed and the possible type of life cycle (indirect) is considered in light of what appears to be a type of behavioural 'immunity' of this host group to many invertebrate parasitic nematodes. Parasitisme des faucheurs (Opiliones: Arachnida) par les nématodes - Sont reportées de nouvelles observations du parasitisme des faucheurs (Opiliones: Arachnida) par les nématodes et une liste de toutes les observations publiées concernant les nématodes parasites de ces arachnides est donnée. Les problèmes nomenclatoriaux concernant les citations des premiers mermithides sont discutés et le type éventuel de cycle biologique (indirect) est considéré à la lumière de ce qui apparaît être un type ''d'immunité'' comportementale de ce groupe d'hôtes pour de nombreux nématodes parasites d'invertébrés.

Abstract: Two species of Roncus L. Koch, 1873 (Neobisiidae), new to science ( R. ciobanmos n. sp. and R. dragobeten . sp.), and one species of Neobisium Chamberlin, 1930 [ N . ( N ). biharicum Beier, 1939], collected in the Movile Cave, southern Dobrogea, Romania, have been described, diagnostic characters illustrated, and their geographic distribution analyzed. In addition, the description of Chthonius ( Chthonius ) monicae Boghean, 1989 (Chthoniidae), otherwise known only from two females, has been amended. The possible relationships of these species are discussed in view of the importance of some diagnostic characters and of the evolution of their cave habitat.

Abstract: Records of anomalies in trichobothrial pattern in pseudoscorpions are rare. Different abnormalities in the location of trichobothria in Xenochelifer davidi Chamberlin (Chamberlin 1949), Roncus pripegala Ćurčić (Ćurčić 1988), Neobisium carpaticum Beier, N . cephalonicum (Daday) (Ćurčić 1980), N . simoni (L. Koch), and N . bernardi Vachon (Ćurčić and Dimitrijević 1989) have been reported. In the Neobisiidae, anomalies in trichobothrial disposition are confined to adults and tritonymphs. The aberrations include the following: the irregular distribution of some trichobothria on both pedipalpal chelae, although normal setal count is still maintained, as in N . cephalonicum (Ćurčić 1980); the reduction in the number of trichobothria due to reduction in size or some other anomaly of one or both pedipalpal chelae, as in N . bernardi , N . simoni , and N . carpaticum (Ćurčić 1980; Ćurčić and Dimitrijević 1989); or the occurrence of a supernumerary trichobothrium when both pedipalpal chelae are of normal length, as in R . pripegala (Ćurčić 1988).
