Abstract:
Introdução: Compulsão Alimentar Periódica (CAP), é o comportamento caracterizado pelo grande consumo alimentar num curto espaço de tempo, acompanhado de uma perda de controle sobre o que ou quanto se come. Este comportamento alimentar está fortemente associado a indivíduos com obesidade. Acredita-se que indivíduos com obesidade que apresentam episódios recorrentes de CAP, podem possuir maior risco de desenvolver Síndrome Metabólica (SM). Objetivos: Verificar associação entre CAP e SM, avaliar a frequência de CAP, investigar a ingestão calórica, e o padrão alimentar da população em estudo. Métodos: Estudo observacional, com 32 voluntários, adultos e idosos, de ambos os sexos, portadores e não portadores de SM. Para rastreamento da CAP foi utilizado a Escala de Compulsão Alimentar Periódica. Para avaliação da ingestão calórica e padrão alimentar foi utilizado o recordatório alimentar habitual de 2 dias: típico e atípico. Os dados estatísticos foram apresentados em frequência absoluta e relativa, os resultados dos testes de associação foram considerados significativos quando p≤0,05. Resultados: A prevalência de CAP na população geral, foi de 21,9% (n=7); no grupo com SM foi de 21,1% (n=4), e no grupo sem SM 23,1% (n=3). Não foi encontrada associação significativa entre SM e CAP. Foi observado que o consumo alimentar entre os indivíduos com SM foi maior, quando comparado ao grupo sem SM. Conclusão: Esta pesquisa traz prevalências importantes sobre a CAP e a SM, visto que poucos estudos foram elaborados, explorando essas duas comorbidades.
