Abstract:
The paper at hand presents the key findings of the three‐year Helmholtz energy‐alliance Synthetic Liquid Hydrocarbons – SynKWS (German: Kohlenwasserstoffe, KWS) – storage with highest energy density. Considering detailed technical aspects and applying process optimization and system analysis methods, this study analyses and assesses selected paths for the production of liquid synthetic hydrocarbons starting from renewable electricity and biomass. Furthermore, a systems analytical assessment was done taking into account a future energy supply system characterized by high shares of renewable energies.
