Abstract:
Das Verhältnis Petrarcas zu Dante ist kompliziert und vielschichtig. Die Widersprüchlichkeit der einzelnen Belege - wenige direkte Verweise, dafür jedoch sehr viele textuelle Anleihen - hat es der Forschung leicht gemacht, widerstreitende Erklärungen für die Haltung Petrarcas in Bezug auf Dante anzubieten. Gleichzeitig ist es geläufig, den Charakter des petrarkischen Dantismus innerhalb eines gewissen Leerraums zu untersuchen, indem nämlich sowohl die beiden Dichter als auch ihre Beziehung zueinander isoliert vom kulturellen Umfeld betrachtet werden. Das Hauptanliegen dieser Studie besteht dagegen darin, unter Betonung sowohl des historischen als auch des literarischen und des kulturellen Kontextes die Haltung Petrarcas gegenüber Dante einer erneuten Untersuchung zu unterziehen.
