Abstract:
In diesem Beitrag wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche Bedeutung Essen im Alltag von Jugendlichen in stationären Erziehungshilfen hat. In der Analyse der qualitativ erhobenen Daten wurde deutlich, dass Essenspraktiken eine Rolle im jugendlichen Streben nach Individualität und Zugehörigkeiten spielen. Deshalb werden mit Blick auf die Selbstpositionierung als Kernherausforderung des Jugendalters alltägliche Essenspraktiken beleuchtet. Dabei wird deutlich, dass die Wohngruppe als Ort des gemeinsamen Essens ebenso wichtig ist, wie essensrelevante Gruppenzugehörigkeiten und die Ermöglichung autonomer Essenspraktiken. Über verschiedene Essenspraktiken positionieren sich die Jugendlichen und treten in Aushandlungen mit ihrem sozialen Umfeld sowie mit gesellschaftlichen Diskursen.
