Abstract:
Adipositas führt zu gesteigerter Morbidität und Mortalität. Die Erfolge von Therapie und Prävention sind bescheiden, da Adipositas in der Vergangenheit immer einen Überlebensvorteil darstellte und deshalb evolutionsbiologisch sinnvoll war. Jetzt führt langanhaltende Adipositas zu gehäuften Erkrankungen, auch gesteigerten Krebsraten und die WHO bezeichnet Adipositas als chronische Erkrankung. Fachgesellschaften, Politik und die Öf-fentlichkeit haben sich zunehmend des Problems angenommen und klare Leitlinien und Empfehlungen herausgegeben. Demnach ist die interdisziplinäre und nachhaltig angelegte Therapie der Adipositas heute Standard. Dieser Standard ist nicht mit Reduktionsdiäten alleine, sondern am besten durch die Kombination von Formuladiäten und Reduktionsdiäten einzuhalten. Das OPTIFAST®-Programm ist ein interdisziplinäres Langzeit-Adipositastherapieprogramm, das zu den höchs-ten Gewichtsverlusten im Vergleich mit anderen Therapieprogrammen führt. Auch ein Langzeitergebnis von 60% ist im Vergleich zu anderen Literaturmitteilungen als ausgezeichnet anzusehen. Trotz erfolgreicher Therapieprogramme muss im Vordergrund der Bemühungen die Prävention der Adipositas stehen. Medikamente und bariatrische Chirurgie können weder in der breiten Masse noch nachhaltig zum Erfolg führen.
