Abstract: ABSTRACT Objective To construct and validate the Scale for the Identification of Psychopathological Symptoms in Schoolchildren (SIPSS). Methods This methodological study was based on the following theoretical procedures: panel of judges and pilot study; experimental procedures for collecting data from 201 children aged from six to 12 years old; statistical procedures including construction validation, tested using the Rasch model and Cronbach’s alpha. Results Analysis by the panel of judges resulted in the exclusion of five items. Another item was also discarded after the pilot test, resulting in a preliminary version with 23 items assessing six aspects. The Rasch model indicated that the SIPSS is a one-dimensional scale and most items are adjusted to the model, except four items that presented an item-total correlation below 0.2 and two items that presented differential functioning depending on the children’s sex: reliability of items was 0.97 and Cronbach’s alpha was – 0.67. Conclusion The scale’s preliminary version presented satisfactory psychometric properties, suggesting it is reliable for the identification of psychopathological symptoms related to anxiety, mood, social behavior, motor attention/activity, eating patterns, and the use/abuse of psychoactive substances among children aged from six to 12 years old.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing discipline in the curricular structure of Brazilian undergraduate nursing programs. Method: an exploratory study with documentary analysis with data collected from the websites of institutions registered on the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research "Anísio Teixeira" website, via an instrument prepared for this study with information related to the institution, the disciplines offered in the area, the location of course(s) in the curriculum and workload. The data obtained were transferred to the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences 2.0 for performing descriptive statistics. Results: 88.8% of the 738 registered courses are offered by private institutions, 72% of the institutions surveyed made the curriculums of the courses available on-line, and among these 47.2% had at least one discipline in the area, with a mean of 96 hours among private institutions and 142 hours in public ones, accounting for 2.4% and 3.5% of the total course workload, respectively. Conclusion: there is a predominance of private institutions offering undergraduate nursing programs, and some of these programs do not offer any disciplines related to Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. It was also noticed that there was no standardization regarding the nomenclature and the period for offering this discipline. We suggest further studies regarding how the theoretical and practical contents of this discipline are taught.

Abstract: This was a qualitative exploratory study aiming to better understand the perceptions of student nurses regarding care of the chemically dependent. Semi-structured interviews were conducted between 2007 and 2009 with 17 nursing students from a public university in the city of São Paulo who were training in specialized services for abusers of alcohol and drugs. The content analysis technique was used, and the discourse evaluation revealed that care for the chemically dependent was considered interesting but difficult and exhausting. A positive outcome noted by the students was that the discussion of theory and experience enabled them to change their perceptions of the issue from a moral model base to a more technical, scientific and ethical one. It was concluded that this teaching strategy can contribute to changing the perceptions of nurses toward these patients.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The scope of this paper was to identify alcohol consumption patterns among users of primary health care services in the city of Bebedouro in the state of São Paulo, verifying the association between usage patterns and demographic and behavioral variables of the sample. It is a cross-sectional study involving 755 subjects over 18 years of age who sought primary health care services in the city of Bebedouro. To investigate patterns of alcohol use, the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) was used. For statistical analysis the chi-square and binary logistic regression tests were used. The results showed that 78% of users were abstainers or low risk users, 22% had problems with alcohol, 10% were risk cases, 2% were high-risk users and 10% probable addicts. The greatest predictors of usage risk were males, income 〉 than 6 minimum wages and smokers; for addicts the most important predictors were: males, working in commerce and smokers. A significant proportion of users showed patterns of problematic use of alcohol, which reinforces the need for preventive actions, since the primary health care services are an excellent opportunity to combine opportunities for screening and usage strategies for reducing harmful effects related to the problematic use of alcohol.

Abstract: Objective: to identify the prevalence and factors associated with passive and active suicidal ideation throughout life among students entering graduate courses. Method: an analytical and cross-sectional study with a sample comprised of 321 students entering graduate courses. Multiple descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed. Results: the multivariate analyses indicated that passive and active suicidal ideation were similarly more prevalent among female students belonging to minority sexual orientations who engaged in daily physical activity ≤ 30 minutes/day and were victims of psychological violence in the past 12 months. Alcohol abuse, family relationships not impaired due to the demands imposed by stricto sensu graduate studies and low self-esteem were only associated with passive suicidal ideation. In turn, recent marijuana use in the last 30 days, poor interpersonal relationships with academic peers, and engagement in professional activities concomitantly with the demands imposed by graduate studies were only associated with active suicidal ideation. Conclusion: high prevalence of lifetime passive and active suicidal ideation was identified among graduate students, and similarities and differences were verified between some associated factors for both outcomes.

Abstract: Objective: to analyze the daily work of a Psychosocial Care Center and its articulation with the Psychosocial Care Network in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: this is a qualitative study, produced by means of the researcher’s diary and semi-structured interviews with nine health professionals, submitted to thematic-categorical content analysis. Results: the pandemic revealed failures in the management of services, lack of public investment, and the unpreparedness of professionals, intensifying work fragmentation, network disarticulation, non-assistance, and pre-existing asylum practices. Conclusion: the reality of the daily work of psychosocial care services shows that multifaceted actions that consider the complex social process of the psychiatric reform are necessary, especially in the pandemic, seeking the effective institutionalization of the psychosocial care model and the formation of centers of resistance to the established asylum model.
