Abstract:
L'archipel des Comores, composé de quatre îles et situé dans le canal du Mozambique (Océan indien occidental), présente une unité de civilisation mais aussi des particularités insulaires, comme le montrent le système de parenté et sa terminologie. La société comorienne est organisée sur un double système, dont la mise en place peut être expliquée par l'histoire régionale : l'islam a apporté ses règles juridiques dans une société matrilinéaire à résidence matrilocale. L'équilibre entre ces deux forces est diversement réalisé selon les îles, les classes sociales et le niveau socio-économique.
