Abstract:
Uma das características mais flagrantes do desemprego é a irregularidade da sua incidência, tanto socialmente quanto espacialmente. Nos últimos anos, pesquisadores e formuladores de política têm demonstrado um crescente interesse no estudo e na interpretação de processos socioeconômicos no nível regional. Neste contexto, estudos a respeito das chances de participação no mercado de trabalho em nível regional ganham uma relevância adicional. Assim, este estudo tem por objetivo analisar como as características individuais e do município no qual os indivíduos estão inseridos influenciam a probabilidade de estarem empregados. Para tanto, é utilizado um modelo logit multinível, com dois níveis hierárquicos, um individual e um municipal. Adicionalmente a esta abordagem, aplica-se um modelo hierárquico-espacial, de modo a se contemplar o problema da autocorrelação espacial. Os principais resultados indicam que, no Brasil, têm maior probabilidade de estarem empregados os homens, brancos ou amarelos, com ensino superior completo e que possuem cônjuge/companheira. Além disso, nota-se uma forte relação entre os indicadores municipais de renda e saúde – bem como essas variáveis defasadas espacialmente – e as chances de participação no mercado de trabalho.
