Abstract:
Dans l'organisation politique et sociale du moyen âge musulman, il est une institution, l' iqtâ c , dont on s'est quelquefois occupé, en raison du rapprochement qu'il paraissait possible d'instituer entre elle et le fief européen, et, par conséquent, entre la féodalité occidentale et ce qu'on a cru pouvoir appeler la féodalité musulmane. Naturellement l' iqtâ c n'est qu'un des éléments dont l'étude est nécessaire pour une comparaison aussi générale. Mais même à, son sujet, ce qui a été écrit jusqu'ici reste sommaire et, surtout, tient insuffisamment compte des différences de temps et de lieu. C'est au contraire à décrire des évolutions que nous nous sommes ci-dessous attachés.
