Abstract: The genus Ismarus Haliday from China is revised. Six species are recognized, of which two species are described as new: Ismarus areolatus Chen, sp. nov. , and Ismarus paradorsiger Chen, sp. nov. By examining the pits along the anterolateral margin of mesoscutum and comparing them with the typical notauli in Diapriidae, we conclude that the so-called reduced notauli in Ismarus are actually foveae of the mesoscutual suprahumeral sulcus. An updated key to the Chinese species of the genus is provided.

Abstract: The morphology, ecology, and phylogenetic relationships of specimens of the family Boletaceae from subtropical and tropical China were investigated. Four species, Butyriboletushuangnianlaii , Lanmaoamacrocarpa , Neoboletusmultipunctatus , and Sutoriussubrufus , are new to science. Chalciporusradiatus and Caloboletusxiangtoushanensis are redescribed. Caloboletusguanyui is proposed to replace Boletusquercinus Hongo, an illegitimate later homonym. The recently described Tylopiluscallainus is synonymized with the Japanese Boletusvirescens , and the new combination T.virescens (Har. Takah. & amp; Taneyama) N.K. Zeng et al. is proposed. Moreover, Neoboletus is treated as an independent genus based on evidence from morphology and molecular phylogenetic data in the present study, and many previously described taxa of Sutorius are recombined into Neoboletus : N.ferrugineus (G. Wu et al.) N.K. Zeng et al., N.flavidus (G. Wu & amp; Zhu L. Yang) N.K. Zeng et al., N.hainanensis (T.H. Li & amp; M. Zang) N.K. Zeng et al., N.obscureumbrinus (Hongo) N.K. Zeng et al., N.rubriporus (G. Wu & amp; Zhu L. Yang) N.K. Zeng et al., N.sanguineoides (G. Wu & amp; Zhu L. Yang) N.K. Zeng et al. , N.sanguineus (G. Wu & amp; Zhu L. Yang) N.K. Zeng et al., and N.tomentulosus (M. Zang et al.) N.K. Zeng et al.

Abstract: The Qilian Mountain Basin, on the north-eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), supports a high diversity of native and endemic fish. However, the detailed species inventory and distribution patterns concerning fish in the whole Basin remain unknown, which hinders the conservation of biodiversity and assessment of ecological health. We compiled a comprehensive species richness and distribution database of freshwater fish in the Qilian Mountain Basin, based on field investigations and exhaustive data collection from 50 rivers or lakes. Then, we elucidated a distribution pattern using clustering and ordination analyses based on a β dissim matrix with species presence/absence data. A total of 79 freshwater fish species within eight orders, 17 families and 42 genera were recorded. The Qilian Mountain Basin could be grouped into six systems, which match the six Basins (i.e. Heihe River Basin, HHR; Qaidam Basin, QDM; Qinghai Lake Basin, QHL; Shule River Basin, SLR; Shiyang River Basin, SYR; Yellow River Basin, YR), based on the fish distribution pattern. Additionally, the spatial pattern of species distribution showed the distance decay of taxonomic similarity. Our results demonstrate that riverine connectivity resulting from historical processes plays a vital role in shaping the freshwater ichthyofauna of High Central Asia. These findings will be valuable for future systematic conservation of fish in the Qilian Mountain Basin.

Abstract: Optical density (OD) is widely used to estimate the density of cells in liquid culture, but cannot be compared between instruments without a standardized calibration protocol and is challenging to relate to actual cell count. We address this with an interlaboratory study comparing three simple, low-cost, and highly accessible OD calibration protocols across 244 laboratories, applied to eight strains of constitutive GFP-expressing E. coli . Based on our results, we recommend calibrating OD to estimated cell count using serial dilution of silica microspheres, which produces highly precise calibration (95.5% of residuals 〈 1.2-fold), is easily assessed for quality control, also assesses instrument effective linear range, and can be combined with fluorescence calibration to obtain units of Molecules of Equivalent Fluorescein (MEFL) per cell, allowing direct comparison and data fusion with flow cytometry measurements: in our study, fluorescence per cell measurements showed only a 1.07-fold mean difference between plate reader and flow cytometry data.

Abstract: The Chinese species of the genus Sericocampsomeris Betrem, 1941 are revised, based on morphology. Four species are recognised, of which one species is described as new, i.e. Sericocampsomeris punctata Liu & Chen, sp. nov. , for which we also provide molecular sequence data to supplement its identity. A key to species of Sericocampsomeris from China and a distribution map are provided. Furthermore, we identify Sericocampsomeris punctata Liu & Chen, sp. nov. as a pollinator of Elaeocarpus sp. (Elaeocarpaceae) and recognise Leucopholis rorida (Fabricius, 1801) as a host of Sericocampsomeris rubromaculata (Smith, 1855).

Detailed generic characters and an updated key to Tonsilla species are also given.

Abstract: In this study, Halysituberosus Dong & amp; Wang, 2017 is treated as a synonym of Allorhynchium van der Vecht, 1963 ( syn. nov. ). Halysituberosus yingjiangensis Dong & amp; Wang, 2017 is a new synonym of Allorhynchium lugubrinum (Cameron, 1900) ( syn. nov. ) and Halysituberosus menglianensis Dong & amp; Wang, 2017 is transferred to Allorhynchium as a new combination ( comb. nov. ). Based on additional COI gene sequencing and morphological characters including genitalia characters, both Allorhynchium diffinis (Giordani Soika, 1986) and Allorhynchium radiatum Li, Barthélémy & amp; Carpenter, 2019 are confirmed to be valid species, and their males of the two species are described for the first time. Allorhynchium quadrimaculatum Gusenleitner, 1997 is newly recorded from China. A key to the Chinese species of Allorhynchium are also updated.
