Abstract: Sinocyclocheilus longicornus sp. nov. is described from the Pearl River basin in Hongguo Town, Panzhou City, Guizhou Province, Southwest China. Based on the presence of the long horn-like structure on the back of the head, Sinocyclocheilus longicornus sp. nov. is assigned to the Sinocyclocheilus angularis species group. Sinocyclocheilus longicornus sp. nov. is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of morphological characters: (1) presence of a single, relatively long horn-like structure on the back of the head; (2) pigmentation absent; (3) reduced eyes; (4) dorsal-fin rays, ii, 7; (5) pectoral-fin rays, i, 13; (6) anal-fin rays, iii, 5; (7) pelvic-fin rays, i, 7; (8) lateral line pores 38–49; (9) gill rakers well developed, nine on first gill arch; and (10) tip of adpressed pelvic fin not reaching anus.

Abstract: The genus Parachironomus has a cosmopolitan distribution including 85 valid described species worldwide. Species records and studies of the genus in the Tibetan Plateau are scarce. In this study, the genus Parachironomus from China is revised and two new species, Parachironomus wangi Liu & Lin, sp. nov. and Parachironomus nankaiensis Liu & Lin, sp. nov. , are described based on adult morphology and molecular data. Paracladopelma demissum Yan, Wang & Bu is placed in the genus Parachironomus as a new combination. A neighbor-joining tree was reconstructed based on all known Parachironomus COI DNA barcodes. A key to adult males of the genus Parachironomus from China is also provided.

Abstract: Allium heterophyllum D.F.Xie & amp; X.J.He, sp. nov. (Amaryllidaceae), is a new species from Henan, China and is described based on morphological and molecular evidence. It is morphologically most similar to A. dumebuchum in the rhomboid scape in cross-section. However, distinctive differences were detected in perianth color, leaf shape and cross-section, flowers’ density as well as flowering season. Similarly, the karyotype of A. heterophyllum is 2 n = 2 x = 16 and in A. dumebuchum is 2 n = 4 x = 32. Phylogenetic analysis based on nuclear ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) and three cpDNA regions strongly supports that A. heterophyllum is a member of Allium section Rhizirideum and sister to the other species of this section (e.g. A. senescens , A. spirale , and A. prostratum ). Currently, only one population and approximately 120 individuals were discovered; the development of scenic spots in this region may affect its growth and threaten this population. Therefore, this new species is preliminarily considered as Near Threatened (NT) according to criteria of the IUCN Red List.

Abstract: A new species of Isotrema was recently discovered from Guizhou, China and is here named as I. brevilimbum . It is most similar to I. ovatifolium and I. wardianum , but differs in the morphology of leaves and flowers. A detailed description for the new species, along with line drawings, photographs, as well as morphological comparisons with similar species, are provided. In addition, the distribution of I. wardianum in China is here confirmed.

Abstract: In the present paper, a new species of cynipid gall wasp, Andricus elodeoides Liu & Pang, is described from several provinces in southern China. The new species is closely related to the recently redescribed A. mairei (Kieffer, 1906). In addition to differences in adult and gall morphology, the new species is also readily separated by COI sequences, with a 6.2–8.9% genetic distance between populations of the new species and those of A. mairei . A contrasting difference in sex ratios was also observed between the two species, with A. elodeoides extremely female-biased (95.5–97.8% female) while A. mairei male-biased to more balanced (5.4–43.5% female). PCR screening for Wolbachia infection further revealed contrasting infection rates between populations of A. elodeoides and A. mairei : the Wolbachia infection rate was 0% in A. elodeoides and 100% in A. mairei . Cytoplasmic incompatibility induced by Wolbachia is proposed as a potential mechanism of speciation of the sympatric A. elodeoides and A. mairei .

Abstract: Nagrajomyces ( incertae sedis , Ascomycota ) is a monotypic genus with a previously unknown systematic position. In this report, two new species are proposed, Nagrajomyces fusiformis and Nagrajomyces laojunshanensis. These new taxa are proposed based on morphological characteristics evident via light microscopy and molecular data. Multi-locus phylogenetic analyses (ITS rDNA, nrLSU rDNA, RPB2 , and TEF1-α ) show that specimens recently collected in Yunnan Province, China are closely related to Gnomoniaceae . Both new species and known species were discovered repeatedly in their asexual developmental form exclusively on twigs of Rhododendron spp. ( Ericaceae ). This indicates a host specificity of Nagrajomyces spp. for species of Rhododendron .
