Abstract: Chronic kidney disease (low estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] or albuminuria) affects approximately 14% of adults in the US. Objective To evaluate associations of lower eGFR based on creatinine alone, lower eGFR based on creatinine combined with cystatin C, and more severe albuminuria with adverse kidney outcomes, cardiovascular outcomes, and other health outcomes. Design, Setting, and Participants Individual-participant data meta-analysis of 27 503 140 individuals from 114 global cohorts (eGFR based on creatinine alone) and 720 736 individuals from 20 cohorts (eGFR based on creatinine and cystatin C) and 9 067 753 individuals from 114 cohorts (albuminuria) from 1980 to 2021. Exposures The Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration 2021 equations for eGFR based on creatinine alone and eGFR based on creatinine and cystatin C; and albuminuria estimated as urine albumin to creatinine ratio (UACR). Main Outcomes and Measures The risk of kidney failure requiring replacement therapy, all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, acute kidney injury, any hospitalization, coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and peripheral artery disease. The analyses were performed within each cohort and summarized with random-effects meta-analyses. Results Within the population using eGFR based on creatinine alone (mean age, 54 years [SD, 17 years]; 51% were women; mean follow-up time, 4.8 years [SD, 3.3 years]), the mean eGFR was 90 mL/min/1.73 m 2 (SD, 22 mL/min/1.73 m 2 ) and the median UACR was 11 mg/g (IQR, 8-16 mg/g). Within the population using eGFR based on creatinine and cystatin C (mean age, 59 years [SD, 12 years]; 53% were women; mean follow-up time, 10.8 years [SD, 4.1 years] ), the mean eGFR was 88 mL/min/1.73 m 2 (SD, 22 mL/min/1.73 m 2 ) and the median UACR was 9 mg/g (IQR, 6-18 mg/g). Lower eGFR (whether based on creatinine alone or based on creatinine and cystatin C) and higher UACR were each significantly associated with higher risk for each of the 10 adverse outcomes, including those in the mildest categories of chronic kidney disease. For example, among people with a UACR less than 10 mg/g, an eGFR of 45 to 59 mL/min/1.73 m 2 based on creatinine alone was associated with significantly higher hospitalization rates compared with an eGFR of 90 to 104 mL/min/1.73 m 2 (adjusted hazard ratio, 1.3 [95% CI, 1.2-1.3]; 161 vs 79 events per 1000 person-years; excess absolute risk, 22 events per 1000 person-years [95% CI, 19-25 events per 1000 person-years] ). Conclusions and Relevance In this retrospective analysis of 114 cohorts, lower eGFR based on creatinine alone, lower eGFR based on creatinine and cystatin C, and more severe UACR were each associated with increased rates of 10 adverse outcomes, including adverse kidney outcomes, cardiovascular diseases, and hospitalizations.

Abstract: Abstract This paper reviews the traditional input-output models and analyzes their potential problems and preliminary improvement research. According to the principle of the national economic accounting system, foreign departments are added in the first quadrant of the traditional input-output table. The biochemical input-output model of import and export solves the import and export problems that have plagued the input-output research, and integrates and expands the advantages of import tabulation matrix, MRIO and other tables and models. It has laid a solid foundation for correctly using input-output data to analyze national economy, regional economy and global economy. JEL classification numbers: E16. Keywords: Import, Export, Input-output Table, Input-output Model, Foreign Sector.

Abstract: Abstract In the information age, negative news affects corporate performance due to its powerful ability to spread and disrupt. Existing studies examine the linear relationship between negative news and corporate performance and explore the ex-post response mechanism of negative news. However, the nonlinear relationship between negative news and corporate performance and the role and mechanisms of ex-ante prevention of negative news by corporate control factors are unclear. We explore these issues using a sample of Chinese strategic emerging companies from 2012 to 2020. Our results show that: there is an inverted U-shaped effect of negative news intensity on corporate performance; internal control dampens negative news intensity; corporate shareholder responsibility and corporate violations degree partially mediate the negative relationship between internal control and negative news intensity, with the joint mediation effect of the two accounts for 39% of the total effect. Our study identifies an 'optimal range' of negative news intensity that is beneficial to corporate performance and finds the role of internal control in the governance of negative news intensity and the mechanisms of action, which contributes to further understanding of the impact of negative news on firm performance and has important implications for the governance of corporate opinion. Abstract: Accelerating the “double carbon” transformation of the manufacturing industry is the key to achieving the strategic goal of “double carbon” in China, among which the low-carbon development of the Beijing manufacturing industry is the top priority. To achieve high-quality development of the manufacturing industry in Beijing, the main task is to reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency. Therefore, on the basis of the Global Malmquist–Luenberger (GML) index and the system dynamics (SD) method, this study analyzes the green total-factor energy efficiency trends of 25 manufacturing sub-sectors in Beijing from 2006 to 2020 and incorporates the GML index as a key variable into the construction of the SD model. It then explores the path optimization of Beijing’s manufacturing low-carbon development in the 14th Five-Year Plan period via scenario simulation and offers policy recommendations for the green-oriented transition of Beijing’s manufacturing industry. The study finds that Beijing’s manufacturing industry needs to prioritize energy structure optimization and efficient energy utilization and give full play to the city’s advantages in technological innovation and investment while supporting high-end scientific research and innovation projects to confirm the capital city’s strategic position.

Abstract: In the context of the carbon neutrality target, carbon reduction in the daily operation of the transportation system is more important than that in productive activities. There are few travel services that can quantify low-carbon travel, with a lack of effective low-carbon travel tools to guide transportation behavior. On-demand access to taxi services can effectively reduce the additional carbon emissions caused by cruising, which in turn increases efficiency in urban mobility with a reduced taxi fleet scale. For individual taxis, they lack macroscopic horizon in their choice of passenger pickup paths. The selected travel path based on personal operational experience or real-time location is limited by local optimization when making path decisions. In this work, we proposed a macro-path recommendation method to assist the taxi pickup path selection to accelerate the transformation of the taxi system towards low-carbon sharing. First, an adaptive learning spatiotemporal neural network was used to predict the coarse-grained distribution of potential trips. Next, the trajectory sharing graph was constructed based on the potential trips distribution to reallocate the taxi orders for the continuous pickup path optimization. As a result, the continuous pickup path balanced the relation between travel demands and taxi supply, improving the economic and environmental benefits of taxi operation and contributing to the goal of carbon neutrality. We conducted experiments on the Chengdu city ride-hailing dataset. Compared with the current status of taxi operations, the solution shows improvements in both the scale of taxi services and order gain.

Abstract: Existing studies of financing efficiency concentrate on capital structure and a single external environment or internal management characteristic. Few of the studies include the internal and external financing environments at the same time for hydrogen energy industry financing efficiency. This paper used the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model and the Malmquist index to measure the financing efficiency of 70 hydrogen energy listed enterprises in China from 2014 to 2020 from both static and dynamic perspectives. Then, a tobit model was constructed to explore the influence of external environment and internal factors on the financing efficiency. The contributions of this paper are studying the internal and external financing environments, and integrating financing cost efficiency and capital allocation efficiency into the financing efficiency of hydrogen energy enterprises. The results show that, firstly, the financing efficiency of China’s hydrogen energy listed enterprises showed an upward trend during the years 2014–2020. Secondly, China’s hydrogen energy enterprises mainly gather in the eastern coastal areas, and their financing efficiency is more than that in western areas. Thirdly, the regional economic development level, enterprise scale, financing structure, capital utilization efficiency and profitability have significant effects on the financing efficiency. These results can promote the achievement of “carbon neutrality” in China.

Abstract: As the world’s largest coal consumer, China’s coal consumption in 2021 was 2934.4 million tons of standard coal. Thermal coal occupies an important position in the coal market and industry system, as an important raw material in the power industry, steel industry and other industries. The price of thermal coal in 2021 was at its highest level in a decade, and reached a historical level of about 2587.5 yuan per ton in October 2021. In the same month, the government intervened in the thermal coal price, which fell 51.9% by the end of the year under the influence of the policy. In previous studies, there has been little research on thermal coal and the impact of the variable “policy” on the thermal coal price. Thus, this paper analyzed the factors that affect the price fluctuation of thermal coal, and the impact of economic policy uncertainty on the thermal coal price. The cointegration test and forecast-error variance decomposition (FEVD) are adopted in this study. Our results show that the impact of policy uncertainty on the thermal coal price gradually increases over time, but the impact of policy uncertainty on price is negative and not as strong as expected. On the contrary, inventory and other energy prices have a greater positive impact on the price of thermal coal. The results of this study are of significance for the prediction of thermal coal prices in the future.
