Abstract:
Agricultural financial stress in Canada. Short-term and medium-term financial difficulties encountered by Canadian farm enterprises are related to a chronic deterioration in the capital structure of agriculture in order to develop a typology of financial stress. The relative economie viability offarms is analyzed by size, commodity sector specialization and the degree to which different commodity sectors are regulated by the State. The potential effects of this financial crisis on the evolution of the farm sector and the degree of concentration in Canadian agricultural production are questionned.
