Abstract:
Os cigarros eletrônicos, também conhecidos como “vape”, “pod”, e outros nomes, se instauraram no Brasil como uma opção atrativa entre adolescentes. Inicialmente, o principal objetivo era utilizá-lo como uma alternativa ao cigarro convencional, porém, transformou-se em mais uma via de entrada para o uso do cigarro e outras drogas. O objetivo é esclarecer os possíveis quadros clínicos advindos do uso de cigarro eletrônico em adolescentes, dos 12-19 anos, encaixando-se na doença E-VALI. Essa é uma revisão de literatura, realizada no período de abril-julho de 2022 pela busca das palavras-chave por meio das bases eletrônicas de dados: Scielo, MEDLINE (via PubMed), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). Como critérios de inclusão, foram utilizados artigos entre o ano de 2019 a julho de 2022, contendo os descritores acima, sem restrição de território. No total, 31 artigos foram utilizados para esta revisão. Discussão: O quadro clínico descrito pelos autores pode variar desde sintomas respiratórios, como tosse, dispneia e falta de ar, a sintomas gastrointestinais, como diarreia, dor abdominal e vômitos, além de convulsões provavelmente associadas ao uso desses dispositivos eletrônicos. Apesar de sua venda ser proibida no Brasil desde 2009, o cigarro eletrônico se instaurou facilmente entre adolescentes e jovens adultos. Mais estudos brasileiros são necessários para identificar precocemente outros possíveis efeitos adversos deste tipo de cigarro. Também é essencial que a população alvo tenha acesso à informação sobre as consequências resultantes do uso de “vape”.
