Abstract:
Abstract Gewiß; aber der Erforscher vergangener Verhaltensweisen, dieser ,,Menschenfresser der Geschichte“, wie Marc Bloch den Historiker genannt hat 2 , möchte nicht nur wissen, wie oft, sondern auch wie sich die beiden Liebenden geküßt
haben. Auch wenn diese Frage - die meines Wissen trotz so zahlreicher Publikationen zum Sex im Mittelalter noch nie untersucht wurde - einigen als müßig erscheinen könnte, sie ist es nicht. Denn die Formen der sexuellen Zärtlichkeit sind nur zum Teil allgemeinmenschlich biologisch vorgegeben, sie sind auch kulturabhängig und somit Thema der Mentalitätsgeschichte. Die dem Homo sapiens möglichen Verhaltensweisen stehen keineswegs alle in jeder Kultur zur Verfügung, manche sind üblich, andere exzeptionell, weitere blockiert. Es genüge
daran zu erinnern, wie falsch es etwa wäre anzunehmen, der Kuß gehöre immer und überall zur körperlichen Liebe. In vielen Berichten über die traditionellen Japaner erfährt man: ,,…der Kuß ist ihnen unbekannt. Er erscheint ihnen als etwas Tierisches.“ 3 Andererseits liebkosen u. a. bei den Tungusischen Manchu, einem in China verbreiteten Volk, oder bei den Ko-Buschleuten die Mütter ihre Söhne durch Fellatio, die nicht als sexuell gilt, wogegen der Kuß gerade so empfunden und daher zwischen diesen Verwandten nicht praktiziert
wird. 4 Trotzdem liest man auch bei durchaus bekannten Historikern in puncto puncti falsche Statements wie: ,,Alles was in der Liebe möglich ist, wird zu allen Zeiten auch getan.“ 5
