Abstract: Within the scope of the study aiming to investigate the current status of parents with children with autism in terms of quality of life, 52 parents residing in Ankara were included in the study. The data obtained on the basis of volunteerism and criterion sampling method, as well as the personal data form, were developed by Eapen, Crncec, Walter and Tay (2014) and adapted to Turkish by Gürbüz Özgür, Aksu and Eser (2017). The data were tested with normality distribution as well as as descriptive statistics, and non-parametric tests were applied since it was determined not to show normal distribution. Mann-Whitney U tests were used for binary comparisons, and Kruskall Wallis tests were used to compare groups of three and above. The internal reliability coefficient was determined as .91 for the parental quality of life scale in autism. Research findings show that parents with children with autism have below-average quality of life, this value is the age, gender, educational status, employment status, mother or father status of the child with ASD, having a girl or boy diagnosed with ASD, and ASD. reveals that the child does not differentiate with variables such as as age. As a result of the research, it can be said that the quality of life of parents with children with autism is low and certain variables do not change this level in the life-long process such as autism. It is recommended to increase the quality of life with the systemic applications to be performed on parents with children with autism and children with autism.

Abstract: Within the scope of the research in which the sensation seeking behaviors and leisure motivation of individuals participating in paintball activities were determined, it was aimed to shed light on the relationship between the relevant measurement tools. In this context, Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) and Leisure Motivation Scale (LMS) scales were utilized in addition to the personal information form. The data obtained from a total of 154 paintball activity participants were analyzed using descriptive statistics followed by independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests. Post hoc tests were used for within-group comparisons. The findings show that the participants have high levels of sensation seeking and leisure motivation. On the other hand, it was determined that the sensation seeking and leisure motivation levels of the participants differed with the answers they gave to the questions about gender, age, education level, number of participation in paintball activity, frequency of playing paintball and how many years they have been interested in paintball. At the same time, a low level positive relationship was found between the total scores of the leisure motivation scale and the sensation seeking scale. As a result, it was concluded that participation in activities such as paintball, where the excitement element is at the forefront, has a direct relationship with leisure motivation, and from this point of view, by increasing motivation in leisure, various parameters such as sensation-seeking desire will increase in parallel with this.

Abstract: Cucurbitacin D (CuD) is a natural compound that can be isolated in various plant families, mainly from Ecballium elaterium (L.) A. Rich. (E. Elaterium). It is a triterpenoid with a broad spectrum of biological activity, including anti-cancer properties. Hepatocellular carcinoma, the aggressive type of liver cancer, is an important public health problem worldwide. Objective: In the present study, we investigated the anticancer effect of CuD treated at different doses on the HepG2 cell line and the underlying mechanism in vitro. Method: CuD was isolated from the fruit juice of E. Elaterium plant, and quantitative analysis was performed using high-performance liquid chromatography. The cell viability effect of purified CuD was determined by the MTT test, and also cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest effects were determined by flow cytometry. DNA damage was evaluated with the comet test. Proteins and genes involved in PI3K/AKT/mTOR, MAPK, and JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathways were evaluated by western blot and qRT-PCR. Result: CuD showed both antiproliferative and cytotoxic effects against the HepG2 cell line in a dose and time-dependent manner. It was observed that CuD induced apoptosis and blocked the cell cycle in HepG2 cells. It was observed that the expressions of genes and some proteins that play a key role in PI3K/AKT/mTOR, MAPK, and JAK2/STAT3 cascades were dose-dependently down-regulated and led to activatation of the apoptotic pathway. Conclusion: All these results show promise that CuD may have a therapeutic effect in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract: In the study, the validity and reliability study of the Green Culture scale developed by Ermolaeva (2010) was conducted and it aimed to examine the green culture levels of university students with the measurement tool obtained. The language validity of the Green Culture Scale (GCS), which consists of 11 items and 2 sub-dimensions, was made within the framework of expert opinions. In order to test the structure with confirmatory factor analysis, 400 data were collected in the first stage, and it was determined that the CFA findings of the measurement tool consisting of environmental awareness and environmental behavior sub-dimensions confirmed the structure (x2/df=3.29; RMSEA=0.07, SRMR=0.05; CFI). =0.93). The total internal reliability coefficient for GCS was determined as .73. It was determined that the green culture scale was valid and reliable in the Turkish population, and then, in the second data collection stage, the Green Culture level of 402 university students and how certain variables differentiated this level were examined. The findings show that the sample group is in the Pure Environmentalist group and there are significant differences between certain variables and green culture. As a result, the Green Culture Scale, which was determined to be a valid and reliable measurement tool, shows that the green culture level of the participants in the current sample group is high. It is recommended to examine the green culture levels of different sample groups and to expand the analysis of environmental awareness and environmental behavior. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.
