Abstract:
Culvert of the harbor canal in Duisburg As part of the infrastructure project “Renewal of the OB‐Karl Lehr Bridge, 2 nd construction section“ in Duisburg, the culvert and supply line relocation under the port canal has been carried out as an early action since 2019. The culvert, constructed by controlled pipe jacking over a distance of 220 m, will in future accommodate all the supply lines currently being transferred with the bridge structures and thus enable an accelerated construction sequence for the replacement of the bridges. In addition to the actual pipe jacking, the very deep construction pits/shafts of approx. 30 m posed a challenge for planning and execution. The present paper explains the development and technical aspects of the planning and provides insights into the constructional implementation of the special civil engineering measure. In addition, compact information is provided about the main project and the currently ongoing replacement construction of the Ruhr Bridge and Harbor Canal Bridge.
