Abstract: A new species of Stamnaria is described based on morphology and molecular data from a collection made in West Siberia. Stamnariayugrana is differentiated by lanceolate, strongly protruding paraphyses and comparatively narrow, fusoid-clavate ascospores. The apothecia are urn-shaped due to a prominent and even collar as in S.persoonii . The species grows on fallen side branches of Equisetumsylvaticum , a rarely recorded host for Stamnaria . The authors formally describe the new species and provide colour illustrations. In addition, the literature is reviewed on previously described species of Stamnaria . Phylogenetic reconstruction of the Stamnaria lineage, based on the ITS ribosomal DNA, strongly supports the three currently recognised species: S.americana , S.persoonii and S.yugrana .

In: Nature Conservation Research, Fund for Support and Development of Protected Areas, Vol. 7, No. Suppl.1 ( 2022)
Abstract: The paper presents the first analysis of crowdsourcing data of all observations of fungi (including lichens) and myxomycetes in Northwestern Siberia uploaded to iNaturalist.org to date (24.02.2022). The Introduction presents an analysis of fungal diversity crowdsourcing globally, in Russia, and in the region of interest. Materials and methods describe the protocol of uploading data to iNaturalist.org, the structure of the crowdsourcing community, initiative to revise the accumulated data, procedures of data analysis, and compilation of a dataset of revised crowdsourced data. The Results present the analysis of accumulated data by several parameters: temporal, geographical and taxonomical scope, observation and identification efforts, identifiability of various taxa, species novelty and Red Data Book categories and the protection status of registered observations. The Discussion provides data on usability of crowdsourcing data for biodiversity research and conservation of fungi, including pros and contras. The Electronic Supplements to the paper include an annotated checklist of observations of protected species with information on Red Data Book categories and the protection status, and an annotated checklist of regional records of new taxa. The paper is supplemented with a dataset of about 15 000 revised and annotated records available through Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). The tradition of crowdsourcing is rooted in mycological societies around the world, including Russia. In Northwestern Siberia, a regional mycological club was established in 2018, encouraging its members to contribute observations of fungi on iNaturalist.org. A total of about 15 000 observations of fungi and myxomycetes were uploaded so far, by about 200 observers, from three administrative regions (Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, and Tyumen Region). The geographical coverage of crowdsourcing observations remains low. However, the observation activity has increased in the last four years. The goal of this study consisted of a collaborative effort of professional mycologists invited to help with the identification of these observations and analysis of the accumulated data. As a result, all observations were reviewed by at least one expert. About half of all the observations have been identified reliably to the species level and received Research Grade status. Of those, 90 species (195 records) represented records of taxa new to their respective regions; 876 records of 53 species of protected species provide important data for conservation programmes. The other half of the observations consists of records still under-identified for various reasons: poor quality photographs, complex taxa (impossible to identify without microscopic or molecular study), or lack of experts in a particular taxonomic group. The Discussion section summarises the pros and cons of the use of crowdsourcing for the study and conservation of regional fungal diversity, and summarises the dispute on this subject among mycologists. Further research initiatives involving crowdsourcing data must focus on an increase in the quality of observations and strive to introduce the habit of collecting voucher specimens among the community of amateurs. The timely feedback from experts is also important to provide quality and the increase of personal involvement.

Abstract: Three rare species of myxomycetes have been collected from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra, Russia. Stemonitis rhizoideipes and Fuligo aurea were recorded for the first time in Russia and for the second time in extratropical Eurasia, and Comatricha anomala was recorded from a second Russian location. Thirty-three S. rhizoideipes specimens were isolated from bark of Abies sibirica , Picea obovata, and Pinus sibirica in moist chambers, while F. aurea plasmodiocarps were retrieved from A. sibirica bark in one Petri dish. We publish an emended description of Comatricha anomala after discovering new morphological features. Light and scanning electron micrographs and comparisons with morphologically similar taxa are presented for the three species.

In: Environmental Dynamics and Global Climate Change, Yugra State University, Vol. 8, No. 2 ( 2017-11-17), p. 29-45

Abstract: The analytic review of work of the scientific journal «Environmental Dynamics and Global Climate Change» (EDGCC) over the 10 years since the first publishing is presented here. Statistical (science metrical) data were summarized to reveal what papers were most interesting and useful for readers.Two-year impact factor (IF) of the journal increases persistently. During last five years it shows five-fold increase reaching a certain level among other Russian journals of the respective category. Number of EDGCC authors (special issues were not considered) does not vary substantially: 10-16 authors are published in EDGCC each year (among the first authors – from 4 to 10). The Hirsch index also increases stably during all years of publication showing that authors with higher qualification start to submit their papers to the journal. 26 scientific journals were selected randomly among those where authors of EDGCC publish their papers to compare science metrics of EDGCC with other journals (based on 2016 data). Two-year IF based on Russian Science Citation Index of 70% of these journals was lower than IF of EDGCC. The half-live of EDGCC papers is close to the average value for our ensemble. The EDGCC mean Hirsch index was higher than Hirsch index of 63% of all journals selected for our study. The value of probability of citation after reading was the highest for the test sample. Bibliometric parameters of ten most cited EDGCC papers were also analyzed here. Based on provided analysis following recommendations on improving EDGCC as scientific journals have been formulated: translation of papers into English, selection of manuscripts relevant to the journal topic, increasing the number of theoretical papers, improving the quality of experimental papers. Discussion section reviewed in a usual manner seems to be optimal decision to provide future development of the journal. New referee questionnaire modified according to the recommendations above for improvement of manuscripts quality is attached in appendix.

Abstract: A new species, Echinostelium microsporum, is described and illustrated herein. Samples of this species were collected in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra, Russia. It clearly differs from the previously known species in form and structure of columella, number of capillitial threads, their development and branching, and size of spores. Columella of E. microsporum is sponge-like and with deep dark-brown indentations. Its capillitium always extend from three areas at the side of the columella. Capillitial threads are long and always numbering 3, dichotomous and branching into two parts at the ends. Spore-like body is absent. Spores are small, warted and with walls of uniform thickness. We present here a scanning electron micrograph study of E. microsporum and an updated identification key for species of the genus Echinostelium worldwide, which currently includes 16 taxa. A holotype specimen of E. microsporum is deposited in M.G. Popov Herbarium (NSK). It is the second new species for the genus discovered in Russia, with type locality in Siberia, Northern Asia.
