Abstract:
El estudio de no obstante ha estado teñido por ciertos apriorismos teóricos que han afectado tanto al relato de la historia de su aparición en la lengua como a su descripción como partícula gramatical en el español contemporáneo. Estas caracterizaciones erróneas vienen propiciadas por el recurso a nuestra intuición gramatical actual, que ve en no obstante una herencia latinizante. Tal vinculación al latín ha determinado, asimismo, que las estructuras no obstante + SN sigan siendo descritas como construcciones absolutas. Además, el seguimiento de los parámetros de la Teoría de la Gramaticalización, a menudo descontextualizados de las condiciones de producción textual de las formas gramaticales, ha propiciado que se hayan ignorado las motivaciones que determinaron la irrupción de no obstante en castellano. En este trabajo buscamos demostrar que, en las formas no obstante + SN y no obstante que, la secuencia no obstante se ha reanalizado como un solo elemento gramatical de naturaleza preposicional y que no obstante se introdujo en la lengua castellana a través del catalán y/o el aragonés.
